AIRLIFE Memorial Park |
The AIRLIFE Memorial Park was built in remembrance of those who died in
the 1997 crash of an AIRLIFE helicopter and the related car accident. It was built by funds raised through the now annual AIRLIFE Memorial 5k/10k Run/ Walk
event at the Hudson's Gardens and Event Center along the S. Platte river bike path in Littleton. Through grassroots efforts of a small group of concerned community members known asThe Friends of AIRLIFE, the park was completed and dedicated on the first anniversary of the crash in December of 1998. |
| As you enter this beautifully landscaped reflective park designed by Andrew Dufford and Christen Muller of Artscapes LLC, you'll notice a bronze plaque engraved with the names of those who died on December 14, 1997: Pete Albplanalp, Beth Barber and Leslie Feldmann, the crew on the AIRLIFE helicopter, and Julie Olmstead the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the car accident that resulted in the trauma call for AIRLIFE transport. |

To your left, across from the stone benches, is a chiseled rock water fountain featuring geese in flight. As you go up the stone pathway, another large stone has been chiseled with the inscription "Those who die, and dying still can love, still believe, do not die. They live still in the beloved" written by D. H. Lawrence. |
